How to Make Moisturizing Lotion Bars
Recipe type: Natural Beauty
  • 1 cup beeswax (or 1 part)
  • 1 cup coconut oil (or 1 part)
  • 1 cup shea butter (or 1 part)
  • ½ cup olive oil (or ½ part)
  • 10-20 drops of YL essential oils
  • silicone molds (here are lots of super cute and creative ones in all sizes), muffin tin or baking pan
  • Note: if you happen to have a coconut sensitivity, simple swap out the coconut oil for 1 part tallow, here is a wonderful grass fed source.
  • 1 part = 1 cup and makes about 11-12 lotion bars
  1. Note: have your molds set and ready to go before starting, because this hardens real fast.
  2. Combine all ingredients except for essential oils in double boiler or pan on very low heat.
  3. Stir often until melted.
  4. Add your essential oils and stir quickly.
  5. As soon as your oils are melted, very quickly pour the melted oil into your molds. This does harden very fast.
  6. Put the molds outside (if cooler), in the fridge or let them set on the counter until they are dry and hardened.
  7. Wait until they are hardened then pop them out of the molds.
  8. If you don't have a mold, simply use a glass baking dish or bread loaf and cut into bars once hardened.
  9. Enjoy or give as a gift!
